“Making An Entrance”   Leave a comment

Okay…this is great.  A bit over the edge, for some, maybe.  But definitely great!  Wonder how different churches would feel about this entrance?  Congrats to this happy couple!  I hope they keep enjoying life just like this!

A Cherished Tradition   2 comments

The Bridal shower was said to have taken place in Holland when a young girl fell in love with a poor, but generous miller.  Over the years the miller had given away all his possessions to those needier than himself.  So, when the time came to wed, he had nothing left to offer his prospective bride.

Furious with his daughter’s choice of suitors, her father forbade the marriage and refused the young pair the customary dowry, which was necessary to establish a household.  Without it, the pair had little hope of being able to begin a life together.  It was then that the community came to the couple’s rescue.  Out of appreciation for the miller’s benevolence, his friends banded together and literally “showered” the young girl with all the items necessary to set up a house.  It was the beginning of a long marriage and a beautiful tradition.

pre-planning   Leave a comment

This goes right along with yesterday’s post…..and Tuesday’s post, for that matter.  Anyway, pre-planning….think about the following….

  1. What is my vision of the ideal ceremony?
  2. What kind of theme would be nice for the reception?
  3. What colors do I like?
  4. What month would be best for the wedding?
  5. Do I want to get married out of doors?
  6. How big should the wedding be?
  7. How many guests should we have?
  8. What role will my future in-laws take in the proceedings?
  9. Who should I ask to be my maid of honor?
  10. Will my sister (best friend, cousin, etc) help me with the wedding?
  11. Should the wedding ceremony/reception be Elegant? Casual?
  12. Visualize your wedding.  What do you see?  Flowers?  Colors?  What do you hear?

Think about the above items as you begin your planning.  This, again, will help you visualize what you want for your Ceremony and your Reception.  All to often, these first few steps are skipped.  Then, before you know it, things are out of control.  Either because someone ELSE wants something particular, or because it wasn’t decided ahead of time what you wanted.  This includes financial “out of control” also.

Until next time-Michelle

your wedding style   Leave a comment

Have you thought about your Wedding Style???  What’s that?  Well, what kind of ceremony are you looking for?  Religious?  Spiritual?  Civil?  How about formality…..Very Formal (8-10 Attendants), Formal (4-8 Attendants), Semi-Formal (2-6 Attendants) or Informal (1-3 Attendants) – and that’s for each side.

Take a look at these qualities listed below…..which ones of them jump out at you in regards to your wedding?  Picking out a couple of these can help you keep focused, through the planning process, on just what you’re looking for in your Ceremony and your Reception…..

Artistic Casual Chic Contemporary
Country Creative Dramatic Elaborate
Elegant Ethnic Exotic Family Oriented
Fantasy Festive Fun Glamorous
Indoor Intimate Large Lavish
Lively Luxurious Outdoor Personal
Picturesque Polished Private Quaint
Relaxed Romantic Sentimental Simple
Small Sophisticated Spiritual Stylish
Theatrical Traditional Unique Urban

See ya!

the beginning   Leave a comment

Okay.  So, you are ready to start the planning.  Are you really?  Then let the fun begin.  First things first.  Are both sets of parents aware that you’re getting married????  Just making sure!

  1. Select the date and time that you and your fiancé want to get married.  This is not always as easy as it sounds. Do you want a daytime Wedding?  Afternoon?  Early Evening?  What time of year do you want to get married?
  2. Reserve the Wedding and Reception sites. Where will you have the ceremony?  Where will you have the Reception?  Some Reception sites book up quickly.
  3. Choose the members of the Wedding Party.  If you are planning on having a small Wedding, you will only have one or two Wedding Party members for the Bride and the same for the Groom.
  4. Decide on a theme.  A theme can be as simple as a Color Theme.  Or, more extravagant, like a Victorian Theme.
  5. Work on your budget.  More on this at a later time…..

These are just a few things to get you started….there’s much more to do, but start here….

We’ll talk soon…..Michelle
